BEN GREGG EARNS HIS FIRST COLLEGIATE WIN AS TEXAS TECH FINISHES THIRD AT OFCC

Texas Tech senior Ben Gregg delivered the best individual result of his college career Saturday, winning the OFCC tournament with a 13 under total of 197. Gregg opened with rounds of 65 and 64 before closing with a steady 68, then emerged from a four player tie at the top of the leaderboard. The victory came only days after he finished runner up at the Inverness Intercollegiate, giving the Red Raiders another encouraging result early in the fall schedule. No. 5 Texas Tech also made a strong team push in the final round, shooting 12 under 268 to finish third in the 15 team field at 37 under 803. The Red Raiders ended one shot behind No. 12 Illinois and three behind tournament champion No. 4 Arizona State. The performance showed both top end scoring and depth against a national field. Texas Tech returns to competition September 28 at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, where Gregg and the Red Raiders will have another chance to build on a productive start.
