Corrections & Retractions
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it in the open.
Our promise
When a published story contains an error of fact, we correct it as quickly as we can confirm the right information. Corrections are made on the story itself, with a note explaining what changed and when.
We do not quietly delete or rewrite stories to hide a mistake. If a story is withdrawn entirely, the page stays up with a retraction notice in its place.

Report an error
Tell us the headline or link, the specific line you believe is wrong, and what the correct information is. Include a source or a way to reach you if you can.
Send it through the Submit page and mark it as a correction. A newsroom editor reviews every report.
What happens next
We acknowledge the report, verify it against original sources, and respond with what we found. Confirmed errors are corrected on the story. If we conclude the reporting was accurate, we will tell you why.
Takedown requests
We generally do not remove accurate published journalism. In limited cases involving safety, a minor, or a legal requirement, an editor will review the request individually.
