Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to change or delete it.
Information we collect
We collect what you give us directly: news tips, story submissions, job applications, advertiser inquiries, and store orders. That can include your name, email address, phone number, business details, and anything you attach.
We also collect basic technical information automatically, such as pages viewed, referring links, approximate location from your network address, browser type, and device size. This is used to understand what readers in the 806 are reading.
How we use it
To publish and verify stories, respond to tips and applications, fulfill store orders, run and measure advertising, and improve how the site works.
We do not sell your personal information. We never publish a tipster's identity without permission.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage for things like keeping your shopping cart, remembering that you already saw a daily sponsor message, and keeping you signed in to staff tools. You can clear this at any time in your browser settings.
Service providers
Some parts of the site rely on outside services: payment processing for orders and ad space, hosting and database services, mapping and weather data, and video hosting for embedded clips. These providers only receive what they need to perform their function.
Advertising
Advertising on The806er is sold directly and measured with simple counts of how often an ad was displayed and clicked. We do not build advertising profiles about individual readers.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. When we cover students or minors, we follow standard newsroom practice on consent and identification.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete it. Email the newsroom and tell us which address or submission you are asking about. Some records tied to published journalism, orders, or legal obligations may be kept.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions about privacy can go to the newsroom through the Submit page.
