Check the Fridge: 1.5 Million Pounds of Meat Recalled
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 20, 2026

A nationwide recall involving approximately 1.58 million pounds of meat and poultry gives Lubbock households a reason to check product labels in their refrigerators and freezers.
Kayem Foods recalled specified products because they may have been stored at improper temperatures. The affected items were produced from March 31 through October 7 and include hot dogs, bacon, deli meats and chicken sausage.
Brand names include Kayem, Al Fresco, McKenzie, Triple M, Deutschmacher, Jordan’s and Essem. The recall covers particular products, so a brand name alone does not identify every affected package.
Affected packages carry inspection establishment numbers M/P 7839, P 20935A or M 9520. Match the product and its label details against the recall list before deciding whether it is included.
No illnesses had been reported in the recall announcement. Consumers with affected products should discard them or return them to the place of purchase. The recall applies to listed items and production dates, rather than every meat product sold under those brands.
