Dawson County Crash Killed a Midland Man After a Car Struck a Trailer

A Midland man died in a collision involving a passenger car and a trailer at State Highway 349 and FM 829 in Dawson County on Monday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the man as Carlos Luis Lara Rosales, 46. Troopers responded shortly before 4 p.m., and Rosales was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary account says an SUV driven by Juan Pablo Roasas Garcia, 36, was traveling northwest on Highway 349 while pulling a trailer. Investigators believe the SUV slowed as Garcia attempted to turn left onto FM 829.

Rosales was driving the passenger car behind it. Investigators say his vehicle did not slow sufficiently and struck the rear of the trailer. Garcia was not injured, according to the information released Wednesday.

The preliminary information does not establish why the passenger car failed to slow. No conclusion about distraction, impairment or a medical issue was included in the account.
