Frenship and Memorial launch football rivalry
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 16, 2026

The Frenship Tigers and Memorial Panthers will meet on the football field for the first time Friday, October 16, in the inaugural Big Cat Classic.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peoples Bank Stadium. Students from the Big Cat Council chose the game’s name, giving the new matchup a title selected within the district.
The Tigers will be the home team, while the Panthers will be the visiting team. That designation affects ticketing even though both schools are part of Frenship ISD.
The district says spectators must stay on the side of the stadium listed on their tickets. Fans will not be allowed to walk between the home and visiting sides.
Memorial reserved season tickets will not be valid for this game. Families planning to attend should check the specific game ticket requirements before arriving.
The event adds a new fixture to the area’s football calendar, with students who share a district supporting opposing campuses. Friday’s winner will hold the first victory in the new series.
