Leo Nordberg’s career high helps LCU beat Western Washington on Saturday

Leo Nordberg scored a career high 22 points as Lubbock Christian defeated Western Washington 72 to 67 on Saturday, October 31, at Nicholson Arena in Ellensburg, Washington. LCU’s official recap, published November 1, details a finish that stayed close into the final minute.

The Chaps trailed 29 to 28 at halftime before scoring 44 points after the break. They finished with 23 makes in 26 free throw attempts and seven blocked shots, combining reliable foul shooting with stops around the basket.

Brendan Ballard added 15 points, DeAndre Lott scored 11 and Reagan Fiedler finished with 10. Nordberg’s 22 surpassed his previous collegiate high of 13, giving the Chaps a new scoring milestone alongside the win.

Western Washington cut the margin to two late in the game before Nordberg answered with a jumper in the lane. LCU then forced a turnover, added a free throw and closed with a defensive stop. Saturday’s result was the second win of LCU’s season opening trip, following its 78 to 73 victory over Montana State Billings on October 30.
