LUBBOCK COUNTY PUTS THE STRUCTURE OF ITS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT UNDER REVIEW
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed September 29, 2026

Lubbock County commissioners held a Monday work session focused on reviewing and possibly updating the Public Works department organization chart and job descriptions. A separate report on the agenda covered county road projects, staffing, training, safety, paved and unpaved road maintenance, signs, parks and fleet management. Together, the items connect who is responsible for the work with how road and equipment performance is reported. As of early Tuesday, a certified account of any final changes was not available, so claims about a completed reorganization would be premature. The next useful record will be approved minutes or a revised plan showing which positions, duties and reporting lines changed.
