Lubbock Families Can Shop 2027 Health Plans Sunday

Lubbock residents who buy their own family health insurance can begin enrolling in 2027 Marketplace coverage November 1.

The enrollment window runs through January 15. People who want coverage to begin January 1 must enroll or change plans by December 15 and pay their first premium. Enrolling from December 16 through January 15 generally moves the start date to February 1.

The application asks about household members, expected income and existing coverage. Gathering pay information, insurance records and employer coverage details helps families prepare for enrollment.

People with changing work hours or income should use their best estimate for the coverage year and update the application if circumstances change.

Some residents do not need to wait until Sunday. Losing coverage, moving, marriage or having a baby can create a special enrollment opportunity. Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program accept applications all year.
