LUBBOCK RODEO FIGURE RECEIVED NEW AC SYSTEM AFTER RANCHING ACCIDENT

Charles Thompson helped build Lubbock’s rodeo community. After a ranching accident and a broken AC system, local businesses stepped in to help.

The lifelong Lubbock resident and Texas Tech graduate received a new home AC system through the Feel the Love program, with Armstrong Plumbing, Air and Electric and Lennox involved.

Roy Jones, who learned from Thompson decades ago, nominated him. Thompson has been a central figure in the development of Texas Tech’s rodeo team.

Thompson suffered a neck injury after becoming pinned between a tractor and a hay bale. He was trapped for nearly 4 hours before getting to his truck and seeking help. He is now walking again.

“Oh, Lubbock is just a great community,” Thompson said.

The new system addressed a household problem during his recovery.
