LUBBOCK SHOWS UP FOR 4 YEAR OLD STONE AFTER FAMILY WORRIED HIS BIRTHDAY PARTY WOULD FEEL EMPTY

What started as a family worrying about whether a little boy would have enough people at his birthday party has turned into another reminder of how quickly Lubbock can show up for one of its own.

Stone is celebrating his fourth birthday during what his family described as a difficult year. His mother and father are separating, and family members worried the changes happening around him could make his birthday especially hard.

After his story was shared through The806er, people across Lubbock began offering to help make his celebration something he could remember for the right reasons.

Chelsweets & Treats offered to make Stone a birthday cake. Nakita Torres volunteered to bring ice cream. Project No Fear Lbk created a dinosaur themed invitation and plans to attend, while a group of motorcycle riders is expected to parade past the home as part of the celebration.

His family says even more local families have reached out asking if they can attend.

“I cannot put into words how thankful I am that yall are so willing to make our little one feel so special on his birthday during a really difficult year,” the family shared.

Stone’s dinosaur themed fourth birthday celebration is planned for Sunday, September 13.

Sometimes community looks like government meetings and organizations. Other times, it looks like cake, ice cream, motorcycles and a bunch of strangers making sure a four year old knows his birthday matters.
