New Levelland Training Center Will House Truck Driving and Police Vehicle Courses

South Plains College broke ground Wednesday on a workforce training center in Levelland, bringing the project to the construction stage at the Levelland Industrial Rail Park.

College leaders and the Levelland Economic Development Corporation marked the start of the project off Highway 114.

Plans call for the center to house the college’s truck driving courses, police vehicle training and other workforce development programs.

A federal Economic Development Administration grant provided $1.45 million, and the Levelland development corporation supplied another $1.5 million. Together, the two announced contributions total $2.95 million.

The groundbreaking marks the start of work on the facility. An opening date, class schedule and enrollment timetable were not provided in the information available for this update. Students interested in future training can confirm program details with the college as the project moves forward.
