NO SCHOOL MONDAY FOR LISD AND SEVERAL OTHER SOUTH PLAINS DISTRICTS AS LABOR DAY WEEKEND EXTENDS
Lubbock area students are getting a three day weekend. Lubbock ISD schools will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day, with students returning to class Tuesday, September 8. Several neighboring districts are following the same schedule. Frenship ISD lists Monday as a student and staff holiday, and Lubbock Cooper ISD also has the day marked as a student and staff holiday. Shallowater ISD, Slaton ISD, Levelland ISD and New Deal ISD are also scheduled to have no classes Monday. Families should keep the closure in mind when making plans for child care, meals, transportation and work schedules. Athletic practices, games or other extracurricular activities can operate on separate schedules, so parents and students involved in those programs should check directly with their campus or coach. For most students across the Lubbock area, regular classes resume Tuesday morning.
