Regular Mail Delivery Pauses Monday In Lubbock

Lubbock residents expecting regular mail Monday should plan around the federal holiday. Post offices will be closed October 12 in observance of Columbus Day, with regular delivery and retail services scheduled to resume Tuesday.

The closure affects staffed counter services such as buying postage or mailing a package. Someone planning to handle those errands during a lunch break should check the holiday schedule before leaving home.

Postal services remain available without a staffed counter. Customers can request a mail hold, arrange an address change, order stamps or prepare shipping labels through the postal service’s online tools.

Select postal lobbies also have self service kiosks for purchasing postage, weighing packages and other transactions. Access varies by location, so a closed retail counter does not establish whether a particular lobby is open.

Monday’s observance is a scheduled holiday closure. The published schedule calls for normal postal services to return October 13.
