Semi Hits SUV Near Amarillo, Pushing It Into Another Truck Before SUV Rolls Into Ditch
Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving two semi trucks and an SUV near Interstate 40 and FM 1912 east of Amarillo Tuesday afternoon.
Texas DPS says its preliminary investigation found that a semi pulling a trailer failed to control its speed and struck the back of an SUV. The impact pushed the SUV into the rear of another semi pulling a trailer before the SUV rolled into a ditch.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported two people to a hospital with serious injuries. Their identities and current conditions have not been released.
The crash caused major traffic problems along Interstate 40 while investigators and emergency crews worked the scene. Westbound lanes later reopened while eastbound traffic was temporarily diverted toward U.S. 60.
The investigation remains preliminary and additional information could be released.
