Texas Tech Falls to No. 13 Before Ranked Showdown

Texas Tech dropped to No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the coaches poll Sunday after suffering its first defeat this fall at Cincinnati.

The Red Raiders enter this week with 6 wins and 1 loss and a 3 and 1 Big 12 record. They remain in a 4 team tie for 2nd in the conference alongside Arizona, BYU and Oklahoma State, behind unbeaten Utah.

That makes Saturday’s home game against Arizona a meeting between teams carrying identical overall and conference records. Arizona is ranked No. 22 in the AP poll and No. 21 by the coaches.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. October 31 on ESPN. The game is Tech’s 2nd matchup against a ranked opponent this fall, following its 28 to 26 victory over Houston.

Tech has now appeared in the national polls for 26 consecutive weeks, the longest run in program history. The remaining schedule also includes West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Baylor and a Thanksgiving night home game against TCU. Two of those final 5 opponents share Tech’s conference record.
