Texas voters should check their identification before Tuesday’s election
Written by THE806ER STAFF-KW · Filed November 2, 2026

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and registered Texas voters still have time Monday to get their identification ready. The Secretary of State says voters appearing in person are asked to present one of seven acceptable forms of photo identification.
A voter who does not possess an acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one may use a supporting document and complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration. That process has specific requirements, so contact the county elections office for guidance on documents and your circumstances before making the trip.
Forgetting an ID at home is different from being unable to reasonably obtain one. State guidance says a voter who still has access to an acceptable ID must use it. Do not assume a declaration automatically replaces an available photo ID.
Early voting ended October 30. Tuesday’s polls are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Confirm your Election Day location with your county, especially if you live outside Lubbock County, because the place used for early voting may not be the location you should use Tuesday.
