Trailer Theft Takes Gear From Lubbock Family Event

A trailer used for one of Lubbock’s family fishing events was stolen early Wednesday with about 200 fishing poles and supplies, according to Los Hermanos Familia.

The nonprofit says the trailer was taken around 3:30 a.m. from a storage facility near North Ash Avenue and Interstate 27. It held equipment for “Vamos a Pescar, Let’s Go Fishing.”

Along with the poles, the group listed tents, tables and games among the missing supplies. Its estimate for the trailer and contents together is about $18,000. That figure is the organization’s assessment of the loss.

The stolen equipment was intended for the nonprofit’s community gathering. The supplies help the organization put on an event built around families spending time fishing together.

A police report has been filed, and anyone with information is being asked to contact Lubbock police. The announcement did not identify a suspect or describe an arrest.

The group had not announced a recovery in the information available for this update.
