$10,000 Helps Lubbock Children In Crisis
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 15, 2026

A $10,000 donation to Lubbock’s Rainbow Room will help supply clothes, diapers and school supplies for children facing crisis.
South Plains Electric Cooperative and CoBank presented the money Tuesday to Community Partners of Lubbock. The Rainbow Room gives Child Protective Services caseworkers access to emergency items when children need aid.
The gift came through Operation Round Up, where participating cooperative members round electric bills to the next dollar. Those contributions helped fund the gift.
The Rainbow Room has served local foster children since 1998 and is community funded. It supplies everyday items when a child may be dealing with unfamiliar surroundings and major changes.
Representatives said the supplies help caseworkers meet children’s needs and help them feel safe. The donation supports practical purchases.
For neighbors contributing through their bills, the announcement shows where that money is going: toward needs for children and the people caring for them.
