FORMER AMARILLO WORKER INDICTED IN ALLEGED $130,000 THEFT

An alleged theft that police say lasted about 6 years has led to an indictment against a former Amarillo furniture store employee.

A Randall County grand jury indicted Malarie Beth Larson on a charge of theft of property valued between $30,000 and $150,000. Amarillo police allege she embezzled more than $130,000 from Texas Furniture.

The investigation began after a store manager reported the alleged loss on May 22. The manager told investigators money had been taken from the business since 2020. Detectives said they identified multiple methods allegedly used to take the funds.

Larson was arrested October 2. The indictment was reported Friday, advancing the criminal case. An indictment is an accusation and does not establish guilt.

The available update did not describe the individual transactions, explain each alleged method or provide a trial date. It also did not include a response from Larson or her attorney.

The allegations remain subject to evidence and the outcome of this criminal case.
