FOUR MEASLES ASSOCIATED DEATHS ARE REPORTED AS U.S. CASES REACH 3,294
The United States has confirmed 3,294 measles cases this year, the highest national count in decades. Pennsylvania has reported four measles associated deaths during its current outbreak, all involving people who were not vaccinated, while federal officials review how those deaths should be classified nationally. West Texas communities need little explanation of the disruption an outbreak can cause after the region’s large 2025 outbreak. Measles spreads through the air and can remain infectious in a room after an ill person leaves. Health officials say two MMR doses are about 97 percent effective at preventing the disease and advise families with questions to review records with a medical provider. The nation eliminated continuous measles transmission in 2000, a status now under renewed pressure.
