FREE PROPERTY FRAUD ALERTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN LUBBOCK COUNTY

Lubbock County residents can sign up for a free service that sends an email when a property document is recorded under their registered name.

The County Clerk’s Office announced Fraud Notify on Monday. It monitors documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, liens and notices. Court case filings are excluded.

An alert means a document bearing the registered name was filed. It does not establish that fraud occurred. Subscribers must review the document to learn what was recorded and whether it involves their property.

Monitoring begins when a person registers. Users can change their preferences.

Residents can review an alerted document at the County Clerk’s Office, 904 Broadway, Room 207, in Lubbock, or purchase a copy. The office’s phone menu is (806) 775 1076.

The service is intended to provide earlier notice of potentially suspicious activity.
