Homeowner Disputed Lubbock’s Repairs After Fence Damage

A Central Lubbock homeowner says trash collection repeatedly damaged his fence. City officials say repairs should restore damaged sections and residents must follow the claims process.

Jeremy Bowen described bent poles, split wood and cracked concrete. He said problems continued after he contacted Solid Waste and had a tree trimmed as requested.

Bowen received replacement estimates of $2,000 and $3,000 and worried about another incident.

District 3 Councilman David Bruegel said the city’s goal was to restore the property to its original condition. He said damaged poles and wood had been repaired and concrete repairs would follow.

Bowen said he and Bruegel agreed on a solution, with crews beginning work Wednesday.

The city clarified that Bowen had not filed a property damage claim, which officials described as the first step. Bruegel urged residents to follow that process before contacting their council member if they receive no response.

The dispute concerns the damage and the adequacy of repairs.
