LUBBOCK CUSTOMERS QUESTION UNEXPECTED JUST ENERGY SWITCHES
Two Lubbock-area customers, who asked to remain anonymous, say they were surprised to discover they had been switched to Just Energy without knowingly agreeing to change electricity providers.
Customer 1 says he and his wife were Reliant Energy customers, with his wife listed as the account holder. After not receiving their expected Reliant bill, he contacted the company. That same day, he received a bill from Just Energy. The couple says neither of them ever spoke with Just Energy or one of its representatives. Reliant reportedly told the customer it was looking into the situation because information had been provided to switch the account.
Customer 2 says a Just Energy representative came to his home conducting door-to-door sales. He explained that his mother was the account holder with TXU and was happy with the service. The representative took his phone number and said he would send a comparison so they could decide whether to switch.
Instead, Customer 2 says he later received a letter showing his mother had been removed as the account holder and that he had become the primary account holder with Just Energy. He says he never signed anything agreeing to the switch.
Both customers are now questioning how these changes happened without their knowledge or authorization.
In today's economy, consumers have every right to compare electricity providers and switch if they choose. But these two accounts raise questions about how these enrollments were processed and whether the customers actually authorized the changes.
These are customer accounts and have not been independently verified. The customers contacted Team 806er to document their experiences, and we believe consumers deserve answers when unexpected changes appear on their electricity accounts.
