LUBBOCK JUSTICE OF THE PEACE SAYS CURTIS PARRISH MADE HER TOUCH HIM; HE CALLS CLAIMS “PREPOSTEROUS”

Lubbock County Justice of the Peace Susan Rowley has accused County Judge Curtis Parrish of unwanted sexual advances during visits to his office in August 2024. Parrish called the allegations “preposterous” and declined further comment.

Rowley said she sought comfort after her brother’s death and considered Parrish a trusted friend.

She described a hug during an initial visit. About a week later, she alleged he closed his office door, hugged her and kissed her. Rowley acknowledged kissing him back.

“In retrospect, I don’t know why,” she said.

During a 3rd visit, Rowley alleged Parrish touched her through her clothes, then took her hand and placed it on his crotch.

“That was way out of bounds,” she said.

Rowley said the encounters occurred over roughly 1 month. She said she did not report them to human resources because she believed nothing would be done.

“I didn’t know what to do,” she said, describing Parrish as “the most powerful man in the county.”

As of October 12, Rowley had not reported the allegations to police or filed a court action against Parrish.
