Lubbock To Review $10,000 Neighborhood Grant Rules
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 12, 2026

Lubbock neighborhoods could see updated rules for a city program that provides up to $10,000 for resident initiated improvements on city property.
The council will consider changes to the Special Projects in Neighborhoods program Tuesday, October 13. The proposed update would specify eligible projects and clarify application periods and the timeline for awarding funding.
The program was established in April 2022 to support projects led by neighborhoods. Its purpose includes improving shared spaces and helping residents carry out improvements that benefit their community.
City documents list $377,606 available in the capital project for neighborhood plan development and implementation. That figure is the available project balance, without guaranteeing funding to every applicant.
Eligible projects can receive up to $10,000. Tuesday’s agenda places the rules before the council for consideration, so residents should not treat the proposal as approved or assume an application period has opened.
