Lubbock’s “Hot Tub” Gets 11 Years, 3 Months in Federal Prison for Meth Distribution

LUBBOCK, Texas — Steven Glenn “Hot Tub” Ryals, identified by federal prosecutors as president of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club’s Lubbock Notorious Chapter, was sentenced October 16 to 135 months in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix imposed the sentence following Ryals’ conviction for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Federal authorities began investigating Ryals and other club members in early 2025. On February 27, investigators searched the clubhouse, which also served as his residence.

According to prosecutors, agents recovered approximately 3.2 pounds of methamphetamine from a locked filing cabinet. Laboratory testing measured its purity at 98%. Investigators also recovered packaging equipment and additional methamphetamine from his bedroom closet and vehicle.

“Steven Ryals exploited his leadership of the Bandidos’ Lubbock chapter to push high purity methamphetamine into our community,” U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould said.

Prosecutors said Ryals previously received the same 135 month sentence in 1999 for another methamphetamine trafficking conviction.

The investigation involved the FBI, Lubbock Texas Anti Gang Center and Caprock High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
