LUBBOCK’S WINTER WATERING RULES ARE NOW IN EFFECT, AND YOUR ADDRESS SETS YOUR DAYS
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 3, 2026

Lubbock’s winter irrigation period began October 1 and runs through March 31. Assigned watering days still apply, and irrigation is prohibited below 35 degrees. Sprinklers must not create runoff or operate during precipitation. Addresses ending in 0, 3, 4 or 9 have Monday and Thursday watering days. Those ending in 1, 5 or 6 have Tuesday and Friday. Those ending in 2, 7 or 8 have Wednesday and Saturday. The winter schedule allows watering at any time on assigned days when weather restrictions permit it. Hand watering is allowed any day and any time. Runoff into streets and sidewalks remains prohibited. The city warns that runoff during freezing weather can create unsafe conditions for drivers and pedestrians.
