MORE THAN 200 FUTURE CORONADO MUSTANGS TAKE OVER LOWREY FIELD BEFORE LUBBOCK HIGH MATCHUP

The next generation of Coronado Mustangs got an early taste of Friday night football as more than 200 future students took the field at Lowrey Field ahead of the Coronado and Lubbock High matchup.

Lubbock ISD hosted its latest Future Student Night, giving younger students a chance to experience the atmosphere surrounding one of the district’s high school football programs before they eventually reach the halls of Coronado.

Students filled the field alongside cheerleaders, athletes, coaches and school supporters while representing the Mustang community. Lubbock High students and athletes were also part of the night as the Westerners prepared to share the field with Coronado.

The event is part of Lubbock ISD’s effort to connect elementary and middle school students with the high schools they may attend in the future. Beyond football, nights like this give younger students an opportunity to see the traditions, activities and school spirit waiting for them as they move through the district.

For more than 200 future Mustangs, their first run onto a high school football field came years before their first varsity game.
