No. 19 Texas Tech Will Face Kentucky Friday

Texas Tech basketball fans will get their first public look at the new Red Raiders on Friday, when No. 19 Tech visits No. 23 Kentucky for an exhibition at Rupp Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central, with coverage on SEC Network+.

The matchup gives Grant McCasland a chance to evaluate a roster with 5 returning players and 9 newcomers before games begin counting toward the regular season. McCasland enters his 4th season in Lubbock with a record of 74 wins and 31 losses.

Darrion Williams has returned to Tech after a season at NC State. Transfers Cruz Davis and Dra Gibbs Lawhorn each averaged more than 20 points last season at their previous schools.

JT Toppin continues rehabilitation following his February injury and will be unavailable to begin the season. Jamichael Stillwell also will not play against Kentucky.

Tech opens its regular season November 2 against Jackson State in Lubbock. Friday offers an early look at the available lineup against another nationally ranked program.
