Texas Tech Faces Kentucky Tonight at Rupp Arena

Texas Tech basketball returns to the floor tonight with a ranked opponent waiting. The No. 19 Red Raiders face No. 23 Kentucky in an exhibition at Rupp Arena, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. Central.

For fans watching from Lubbock, the game is scheduled for SEC Network+. It is a preseason exhibition, giving local fans a first look at the 2026 to 2027 team before the regular season begins.

Grant McCasland enters his 4th season leading Tech after taking the Red Raiders to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first 3 years. That stretch included the 2025 Elite Eight and a trip to the second round last season.

He begins the season with 74 wins and 31 losses at Tech. The Red Raiders were picked 5th in the Big 12 preseason poll, while their national preseason rankings put them inside the top 20.

Tonight’s trip comes before a stretch of home games to open the regular season. Tech hosts Jackson State at 6 p.m. November 2, with No. 3 Illinois scheduled to visit United Supermarkets Arena November 10.
