PLAINVIEW LIFTS SCHOOL LOCKDOWN

PLAINVIEW LIFTS SCHOOL LOCKDOWN

Plainview High School’s precautionary lockdown was lifted Thursday after police responded to an incident near campus. The district said it was safe to proceed with 9th period and regular student dismissal.

District officials also said there was no active shooter at Plainview Junior High or any other district campus. The high school lockdown was a precaution tied to nearby police activity, and officials emphasized that there was no active threat to the school.

The clarification followed false reports circulating online. Parents were directed to district notifications, the callout system and district social media for verified information about their children’s campuses.

Normal pickup resumed, and the district asked families to be patient during dismissal. The public school update did not establish the details of the separate law enforcement incident near the campus. Details of that incident remain developing. The school’s announcement confirmed that normal student dismissal could resume.
