PROSECUTORS SHOW YELLA BEEZY MADE A $40,000 CASH WITHDRAWAL DAYS BEFORE ALLEGED MO3 SHOOTER SAID HE HAD BEEN PAID
New financial evidence is drawing attention in the murder trial of Kewon White, the man accused of killing Dallas rapper MO3.
Jurors were shown records Wednesday indicating Markies Conway, better known as Yella Beezy, withdrew $40,000 in cash from a JPMorgan Chase account on November 20, 2020, nine days after MO3 was killed on Interstate 35E.
Dallas Detective Eric Barnes testified that prosecutors believe the withdrawal fits into their timeline of an alleged murder for hire plot. Three days later, while White was jailed after an unrelated traffic stop, prosecutors played a recorded phone call in which White said he had recently received $20,000. He did not say during the call who gave him the money.
That distinction is important. Prosecutors are attempting to connect Conway’s withdrawal to White through communications, movements and alleged meetings involving other people. The withdrawal itself does not establish that Conway’s money became the $20,000 White discussed.
White is currently on trial. Conway faces a separate capital murder case and has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he arranged MO3’s killing.
