TEXAS TECH TAKES ITS OPEN WEEK AT 5 AND 0
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 10, 2026

There is no Texas Tech football game to plan around this Saturday. The Red Raiders have their only scheduled open date this season after winning their first 5 games.
Tech entered the break following a 29 to 7 victory at Colorado on October 3. The team also beat Abilene Christian, Oregon State, Houston and Sam Houston in its opening stretch.
Its next game is October 17 against Arizona State in Lubbock, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. That begins a stretch featuring 3 home games in 4 weeks.
After Arizona State, the Red Raiders travel to Cincinnati on October 24. They return to Lubbock to face Arizona on October 31 and West Virginia on November 7. Kickoff times for those later games have not been listed on the team’s current schedule.
Through 5 games, Tech has outscored its opponents 174 to 81. Its closest result was the 28 to 26 home win over Houston, while the Colorado game brought its second road victory.
The Red Raiders now prepare for Arizona State with 3 home wins and 2 road wins behind them.
