THE SOUTH PLAINS FAIR IS COMING BACK TO LUBBOCK AND SEPTEMBER IS ABOUT TO SMELL LIKE FUNNEL CAKES AGAIN
One of Lubbock’s biggest fall traditions is almost back. The 2026 Panhandle South Plains Fair will run September 25 through October 3, with Preview Night scheduled for September 24 at the South Plains Fairgrounds.
Preview Night will feature Buck A Ride, with rides costing one dollar each from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and no admission or parking charge. Regular admission during the fair is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 2 through 12 and free for children 1 and younger. Parking is $5.
The fair will also bring back several popular discount days, including Family Day on September 27, Veterans Day on September 28, Senior Citizens Day and two dollar rides on September 29 and College Night on October 1.
Beyond the rides, the fair remains a major showcase for agriculture and youth programs across West Texas, with livestock competitions, exhibits and dozens of local nonprofit organizations operating food booths.
For a lot of Lubbock families, the fair is not just another event. It is one of those signs that fall has officially arrived, even if West Texas temperatures have not gotten the message yet.
