1 Dead After Shooting on Amarillo’s South Polk

Amarillo police are investigating a shooting that left 1 person dead near South Polk Street and Southwest 40th Avenue late Thursday.

The scene was in the 4000 block of South Polk. Officers asked people to avoid the area while they worked, and crime scene tape was placed near the intersection.

By Friday morning, the initial public information did not identify the person who died or explain what led to the shooting. Police said additional details would be released as the investigation continued.
