Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 9, 2026

Three people were taken to a hospital after a crash involving an Amarillo police vehicle and 3 other vehicles on Coulter Street.
The collision happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, in the 4600 block of Coulter. Those hospitalized included the officer, a passenger in the patrol vehicle and the driver of a GMC truck.
Investigators said the GMC driver was allegedly speeding in the southbound lanes before striking a Toyota Tundra from behind. That impact pushed the Tundra into a Lexus.
Police said the GMC then crossed into the northbound lanes and hit the front of the officer’s SUV. Two passengers were inside the patrol vehicle. The officer and 1 passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries described as minor.
The GMC driver was also hospitalized, but the available update did not specify the severity of that driver’s injuries. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the Tundra or Lexus.
Both the GMC and patrol vehicle were towed from the scene. The crash remains under investigation, with additional details still developing.
