An Amarillo police officer, a passenger and another driver were taken to a hospital after a 4 vehicle collision Wednesday evening on Coulter Street.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. in the 4600 block. Police said preliminary information showed a southbound vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck another vehicle from behind, pushing that vehicle into a 3rd.
The suspected speeding vehicle then crossed into northbound traffic and hit the front of a patrol vehicle.
The officer and 1 passenger had minor injuries. A 2nd patrol vehicle passenger was not injured and declined treatment. The southbound driver was also hospitalized, but that driver’s injury severity was not specified.
Occupants of the other 2 vehicles reported no injuries. The patrol vehicle and the vehicle that crossed the roadway were towed.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
