$90 MEDICARE PAYMENTS ARE COMING FOR ELIGIBLE LUBBOCK ENROLLEES

Eligible Medicare Part B enrollees in Lubbock are included in a new federal plan to send $90 payments to more than 20 million people nationwide.

The payment is a one time contribution toward Part B premiums. Most eligible recipients are expected to receive direct deposits in early October. People without direct deposit are expected to receive checks at the mailing address registered with Medicare.

The announcement excludes enrollees whose premiums are already paid by Medicaid and those who pay an income related monthly adjustment amount. Having Medicare therefore does not automatically mean someone qualifies.

The money comes from the Medicare Improvement Fund, which Congress provided with $2 billion. No separate Lubbock recipient count was included in the announcement.
