AMARILLO DRIVERS FACE LANE CLOSURES ON 2 MAJOR ROADS

Drivers crossing Amarillo this week should expect lane closures on Interstate 40 and Loop 335 as crews repair bridge joints.

The work notice for the week of October 5 lists closures in both directions of I 40 between Ross Street and Washington Street, also identified as FM 1541. It also lists closures in both directions of Loop 335 between Georgia Street and Bell Street.

The notice describes various closures throughout the week. It does not give a daily work schedule or say every lane in those stretches will close at once.

People traveling to work, medical appointments or destinations outside Amarillo should check current road conditions before leaving and allow time for traffic changes.

Drivers approaching crews should follow work zone signs and watch for traffic slowing ahead. Actual lane availability can change as repairs advance.
