ANGELS WITHOUT WINGS: STRANGERS BECAME FAMILY FOR ALEXIS AND AALIYAH WALLACE
When Alexis and Aaliyah Wallace survived a traumatic crash on Interstate 27, strangers stepped in to help save their lives. Today, those strangers are family.
During their interview with The806er, the sisters recalled how Mario, Sunny, and Brandon rushed to their rescue. Sunny held one sister with the care of a father protecting his daughter. Mario helped despite facing serious health challenges of his own, including a fight for a kidney transplant. Brandon bottomed out his truck trying to reach them.
Other drivers used sun visors to shield the injured sisters from people filming. When the sisters could not speak, their rescuers repeatedly called their parents until they got through.
“Someone told us, ‘Not all angels have wings,’ and they are truly heaven sent,” Alexis shared.
Their kindness continued beyond the crash scene. Hospital visits, FaceTime calls, birthday celebrations, and introductions to their children turned an emergency rescue into lasting relationships.
For Aaliyah, their actions became a promise to help others.
“If I ever see somebody in need, I’m definitely going to jump in because I remember somebody did that for me.”
For these sisters, recovery has also meant discovering how deeply people they had never met could care.
