TRUCK DRIVER SERIOUSLY HURT IN INTERSTATE 27 ROLLOVER NEAR KEUKA STREET

A 61 year old truck driver was hospitalized with serious injuries after a rollover near Interstate 27 and Keuka Street early Friday.

Lubbock police said Russell Mabry was trapped inside the semi when officers arrived just after midnight. Lubbock Fire Rescue removed him from the vehicle, and he was taken to University Medical Center.

Investigators said the truck appeared to have been traveling south when Mabry tried to avoid debris from an earlier wreck. The semi went through a guardrail and rolled down an embankment.

That account is preliminary, and the investigation remains developing. An updated medical condition was not included in the information released about the crash.

Police said the debris came from a previous wreck.
