CHILDRESS TRAFFIC STOP UNCOVERED 11.2 KILOGRAMS OF SUSPECTED COCAINE HIDDEN INSIDE A CAR DOOR

A September 24 traffic stop in Childress led investigators to an estimated $1 million cocaine seizure and a federal drug charge. Court records state an officer stopped a van near Avenue F for speeding and received consent to search after noticing indicators of possible criminal activity. In the rear of the van, officers found a detached car door. Investigators said 10 plastic and tape wrapped brick packages were hidden inside it and weighed about 11.2 kilograms. A field test indicated the substance was cocaine. Federal drug agents and state investigators joined the case. The driver, identified as Santos Antonio Aguilar Marroquin, allegedly told investigators he was traveling from Austin to Amarillo. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine. The charge is an allegation, and guilt must be proven in court.
