FM 41 Will Close Overnight at US 87

Drivers using FM 41 south of Lubbock should plan for a 12 hour closure this week while crews place the deck on a new bridge at US 87.

The closure is set to begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, and continue until 7 a.m. Thursday, October 22. Both eastbound and westbound FM 41 traffic will be detoured around the interchange.

The inside lane of southbound US 87 will also close during the operation. The announcement identifies a lane restriction on that highway, rather than a shutdown of all US 87 traffic.

The work is part of a safety project to build a new bridge at the intersection. Placing the deck requires the temporary traffic changes in the work notice.

The planned reopening is Thursday morning, subject to weather and construction conditions. Drivers who normally cross US 87 on FM 41 during those hours should allow time for the posted detour.

The overnight schedule covers this stage of the project. It does not mean the entire bridge project will be finished when FM 41 reopens.
