FORMER AMARILLO OFFICER FACING 78 RECORD TAMPERING COUNTS HAD EARLIER PURSUIT DISCIPLINE
Newly released personnel records show former Amarillo police officer Christian Eder received an eight hour suspension in April after continuing a December pursuit after a supervisor ordered it stopped. The chase involved a Dodge Durango traveling at high speed on U.S. 287 and later moving the wrong direction in traffic. Eder was fired July 17 and now faces 78 counts of tampering with a government record. Court filings allege 76 searches through Flock cameras and two law enforcement database searches were used to track a man who had dated another officer. The same personnel file includes two commendations, providing a fuller record of his service. The criminal allegations have not been proven in court, and the city says litigation is anticipated.
