FOX NEWS AGREED TO HOST A TEXAS SENATE DEBATE, BUT KEN PAXTON HAS NOT ACCEPTED
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed September 30, 2026

Texas voters moved one step closer to seeing the major United States Senate candidates share a debate stage after Fox News said it would host Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico if both agree to participate. Talarico publicly challenged Paxton to the network debate and said he would take part. Paxton had not accepted the invitation as of Tuesday night. His campaign said in July that he would debate Talarico, but no event has been finalized. Talarico is also scheduled for a televised town hall from Texas on October 14, and Paxton has been invited to a separate town hall. A debate would give voters a direct comparison on the economy, immigration, energy, abortion and federal spending before the November 3 election. Until both campaigns agree on a network, date and rules, the proposed Fox event remains unconfirmed.
