Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed October 16, 2026

A Lamesa ISD bus driver was arrested after a complaint involving a 13 year old girl prompted an investigation by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the driver as Michael Mojica, 60. Deputies received the complaint October 14 and notified the bus barn supervisor. Mojica was prevented from beginning his route, and district administrators placed him on unpaid administrative leave.
Texas DPS special agents were contacted to assist with the investigation. Mojica was taken to the Dawson County Jail and booked on charges of assault and unlawful restraint of a person younger than 17.
The allegations have not been proven in court. Details about the reported encounter remain limited, and the information reviewed did not include a court ruling on the charges.
The girl’s name is being withheld. The investigation and any subsequent court proceedings will determine the next steps.
