LUBBOCK COULD HIT 101 TODAY WITH A SMALL STORM CHANCE LATE
Lubbock is heading into another September day that will feel more like the middle of summer. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 101 degrees Thursday, with south winds around 10 to 15 mph. There is also a 20 percent chance for showers or thunderstorms after 1 p.m., though most of the city is expected to stay dry. Tonight should remain warm with a low near 75 and another small storm chance before 10 p.m. Friday is expected to bring another afternoon above 100. Anyone working outside, attending practice or handling afternoon errands should plan around the heat and keep water close. With several outdoor football practices and events happening across the area, heat awareness remains important even though September has arrived.
