LUBBOCK COUNTY IS PROCESSING MORE THAN 7,500 VOTER RECORDS DELAYED BY A STATE ERROR
Written by KAYLA WILLIAMS · Filed September 29, 2026

The Lubbock County Elections Office received more than 7,500 registrations and updates after a Texas Department of Public Safety problem kept some records from reaching counties, in some cases since October 2025. It affected applications tied to the DPS online driver license process, not forms mailed or delivered by hand. DPS says the problem is corrected. Elections Administrator Troy Havard says staff and temporary workers are processing the backlog and it will not prevent eligible residents from voting. The registration deadline is October 5, and early voting begins October 19. Residents can verify their status by calling (806) 775 1339. A provisional ballot remains available when eligibility must be confirmed.
