UP TO 3 INCHES FELL ON PARTS OF LUBBOCK COUNTY AS STREET FLOODING OUTLASTED TUESDAY’S STORMS

Tuesday evening’s storms produced intense rain across parts of Lubbock County, with flash flood messaging reporting totals as high as 3 inches in some locations. Street flooding continued after the strongest cells moved away, showing how quickly drainage trouble can develop even when a storm is brief. Conditions are much calmer today, but another round of thunderstorm chances returns late this week and expands over the weekend. Rainfall totals can vary sharply across the city, so one gauge may not reflect what fell a few neighborhoods away. No broad countywide damage total had been announced by Wednesday morning. Drivers should never enter water covering a roadway because its depth and the pavement condition underneath can be impossible to judge.
